On This Day In Club Penguin History – October 26
On October 26th Club Penguin has updated in 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2014, plus in 2012 there was some notable news relating to Club Penguin.
In 2005 the first ever Halloween Party began. This was Club Penguin’s second party ever. Club Penguin was brand new and just starting out so only a few rooms such as the Town and Dance Club were decorated with a few spooky items.
Just like in 2005, in 2007 the Halloween Party began on this day. The 2007 Halloween Party was Club Penguin’s third one, as it had become a yearly tradition. There was a candy scavenger hunt you could partake in to collect the Halloween Scarf item. The island turned dark for the party and Night of the Living Sled made its debut. Also at this party is when the Yellow Puffle was first spotted. It was made available to players in November.
The final update in 2007 was a new pin. The Spider Pin, Club Penguin’s 45th pin, was hidden in the Cave. The pin actually moved up and down on its string so it was a bit tricky to get! The Spider Pin is the second pin to be hidden in the Cave.
The only update on this day in 2008 was the igloo decorating contest for Halloween ending.
In 2010 the 20th field op mission was released. For this mission you had to go to the Mine, specially the left side of the Puffle Rescue table. The minigame was to power up the chipset by guiding the micro battery.
Although not in-game updates, in 2012 Spike Hike, who was replacing Billybob, introduced himself to the Club Penguin world via a blog post.
Here is what he said:
Spike Hike here. My real name is Chris Heatherly, and as you may have heard last week, I’m stepping into Lane’s big shoes. You probably don’t know me, but I’ve been working and playing on Club Penguin for a long time!
I first met the Club Penguin Team in 2007 when I worked for Disney Toys. When I first came to Penguin, I fell in love with what the team was doing. Together we worked on the first Penguin toy line. Billybob and I got to launch the toys in the biggest penguin party ever in New York City! We had Club Penguin projected onto the Jumbotron so that kids from around the world could join the party.
As a dad, I’ve been playing Club Penguin with my three kids for years. My twins even had a Club Penguin birthday party and I dressed up as Herbert. Herbert had stolen the puffles and the kids had to throw “snowballs” at him and get him to drop the sack of puffles. The kids tackled me to the ground and pelted me with snowballs!
Lane and I became really good friends and talked a lot about his vision for Club Penguin. When he asked me to join Club Penguin it was a dream come true! For the last year and a half, I’ve been able to work on parties, penguin shorts and music videos. As a long time player and as a dad, Club Penguin is very special to me.
As Billybob said in his farewell post – one thing about Club Penguin will never change – it has always been about you guys and always will be.
Also in 2012 Club Penguin uploaded their 100th video to YouTube.

Finally there is 2014. Floors 11, 12, and 13 were now available at the Haunted Puffle Hotel, which was the main plot of that year’s Halloween Party. Floor 11 contained a riddle you needed to solve in order to advance to the next floor, floor 12. On floor 12 you had to attempt to catch the ghost puffles with the ghost catcher machine, but instead Skip, the bellhop at the hotel who’d been guiding you along, trapped you and it was revealed that he was really a ghost who was trying to use the energy of the ghost puffles to haunt all of Club Penguin! It was quite the unsuspected plot twist. Floor 13 was where you defeated Skip and then could adopt a ghost puffle for yourself.
