On This Day In Club Penguin History – December 5

On the 5th of December there have been updates in 2005, 2008, and 2013. In 2005 Club Penguin began testing a new server system and in 2008 and 2013 there were numerous updates such as a new Penguin Style.

In 2005 Club Penguin began testing new servers, designed to bring more speed and efficiency to the game. As a reward for helping Club Penguin test these new servers penguins received a few free items such as the Red Sunglasses and Pink Toque. All of the free items penguins received also have an identical item that is only for members. Here is the blog post Billybob about this update:

Hello Penguins,

We have been hard at work behind the scenes working on a new server system that should be a bit faster and hopefully allow us to make even more improvements to Club Penguin.

You may be wondering, “What does this have to do with me?” Well, we would like your help testing it before we convert all of Club Penguin to it. All this means is that you log into this new area, do everything you normally do and click on everything you can, then let us know if you find any bugs.

As a “thank you” for doing this, we will add some perks to this test server throughout the week. The first is a new room has been added that will eventually have a new game. Every few days we will hide a brand new clothing item that both members and non-members can find, use, wear, and keep for their penguins. (These items will only be found on the test server.)

The test server can be found by going to www.clubpenguin.com/test

So thanks for helping, and don’t forget to fill out a bug report if you find any.

Waddle on!

I don’t know what the new room was. If you do, let me know! I was going to say Ski Lodge, but then I remembered Find Four didn’t come out until Spring 2006… *shrugs*

Onward to 2008! That year the treasure book had a new page added to it. It featured several holiday themed items for your penguin that you could unlock when redeeming a coin code.

Also in 2008, Rockhopper was also spotted in the telescope. He was sailing to the island for Coins For Change and the Christmas Party, which is what it was originally called before the name was changed to Holiday Party. There was also a new pin, the Snow Forts Pin. It was hidden at the Pet Shop in the top right of the room. This pin is Club Penguin’s 78th pin and was the third pin to be hidden in the Pet Shop.

The final update in 2008 was a new clothing catalogue for December. The December 2008 Penguin Style featured new items such as the Gingerbread Costume. Other items such as the Elf Costume and Yellow Scarf made a return in this catalogue.

The final year that has had updates on the 5th of December is 2013. Just like in 2008 Rockhopper was spotted in the telescope, sailing towards Club Penguin. There were also a few minor updates along with that, such as ClubHerbert.com being updated with a new image showing Klutzy reading a map of the wilderness. There were also new holiday postcards and a Coins For Change logoff screen and homepage slide were added. The more important updates in 2013 included the Ice Rink returning, the Snow & Sports catalogue being updated for winter sports, and a new Penguin Style catalogue for December.
