On This Day In Club Penguin History – May 8

On the 8th of May Club Penguin has updated in 2009 and 2014. In 2009 there was a new stage play, a new pin, and the Medieval Party began. In 2014 there was a new Penguin Style catalogue for the month, the play at the Stage was updated, the postcards were updated, a robot was spotted in the telescope at the Lighthouse Beacon, and last but not least, new login and logoff screens were added.

On May 8, 2009 the Haunting of the Viking Opera play made its debut at the Stage. Since then it has been shown at the Stage a total of four other times. In this production, Helga is in the middle of rehearsing for a play when she hears a ghost. She is then too afraid to continue singing.

Also on this day in 2009 there was a new pin, the King’s Crown Pin. It is club Penguin’s 89th pin and is the sixth pin to be hidden at the Boiler Room. To get the pin you had to make with the Pin Maker 3000, which was done by hovering your mouse over the machine. It would then pour some material into the mold and create the pin.

The Pin Maker 3000 was only available during the Medieval Party. At the 2009 Medieval Party there was one knight’s quest, with the Golden Knight’s Helmet, Golden Knight’s Armor, and Golden Shield being the reward if you completed it – members only. Nonmembers could pick up the Wizard Hat at the Lighthouse.

Skipping ahead five years, the biggest update in 2014 was the release of the May Penguin Style. The theme of the new items was outer space and the future, to go along with the upcoming Future Party.

The rest of the updates on this day in 2014 were much more minor. Space Adventure: Planet Y was at the Stage for a fourth time and the postcard to go along with the play was re-added, a robot was spotted in the telescope at the Lighthouse Beacon, and last but not least, new login and logoff screens advertising the Future Party were added.

  1. train, I have a question: do u add CP history of present day when it comes out and u just add it to the post then or do u wait until next year to add this years information? ik it sounds a little confusing but I’m just asking I’ve been wondering this for a while now

    • I wait until the following year. For example, even though CP updated yesterday (technically Wednesday) it won’t be mentioned in a On This Day In Club Penguin History post until next year.

  2. Cool updates! Also, Trainman, are you on Club Penguin Insiders?! It’s an awesome forum! Thinknoodles is the owner. I you should join! Hope to see you on CPI!! :D
