On This Day In Club Penguin History – December 14

On the 14th of December there have been updates in 2006 and 2007. In 2006 a new pin was released in the newspaper and in 2007 the first ever Coins For Change began, the furniture catalogue was updated along with a igloo decorating contest, and The Twelfth Fish was released at the Stage for the first time ever.

Back on December 14, 2006 the 61st issue of the Penguin Times was released. Back then newspapers were released on Thursdays and updates were released on Fridays and the newspaper was called the Penguin Times rather than the Club Penguin Times. In this issue if you picked one of the four ornaments for the Christmas Tree at the Plaza for the 2006 Christmas Party you’d get a Christmas Tree Pin. This is the only pin to be released in the newspaper.

In 2007 there were four updates. Club Penguin updated their furniture catalogue with Christmas themed items and also began their igloo decorating contest, where members could decorate their igloo for the holidays and have a chance to earn coins and be announced as the winner in the newspaper.

This was also the start of the first ever Coins For Change, an even Club Penguin has done every year since. Club Penguin was going to donate a total of $1,000,000 (One Million US Dollars) to three categories. The categories were helping kids in developing countries, keeping the environment clean, and kids who were sick. Penguins would donate as many coins as they wanted to each category. However many coins people donated in each category would determine how the one million dollars would be broken down for each category. There was even a commercial about Coins For Change on Disney Channel, their first ever one. The final update was The Twelfth Fish being released at the Stage for the first time ever. This was Club Penguin’s second ever play to be released. The stage play was somewhat Shakespeare related.

Also, it’s worth mentioning that on the 14th of December in 2013 the Penguin Carols episode of #WaddleOn was released.
