A lot of you have seen my post where I brought to attention the very large amount of dislikes on Club Penguin’s Star Wars Takeover Cinematic Trailer. While without a doubt some of the dislikes are from penguins who are not looking forward to the party, a large majority of those dislikes come from non Club Penguin players – they’re from adults. I suspected (and accidentally forgot to mention in the post because it slipped my mind) that most of the video’s dislikes originate from Star Wars fans who don’t play Club Penguin and are not fond of the idea. The video was posted to the official Star Wars Twitter account for example. Not just penguins follow Star Wars on Twitter, a wide variety of ages and video game players do.

While I had no way of truly knowing the source of the dislikes, Club Penguin does with their video statistics. Spike Hike shared a little bit of information about that with me to clear things up. He told me a majority of the video’s dislikes are originating from a website that is filled with trolls – those who like to mess with people. Trolling can have many different definitions, but it always comes down to messing with people, like you’re antagonising them. Some troll in a way similar to bullying while others like me just mess around with friends simply to have a few laughs, only messing with them because they’re okay with it. In this case however it was done to mess with Club Penguin.
With that cleared up, it looks like most penguins are looking forward to the party. Without a doubt though not everyone enjoys the takeovers and I’m sure Club Penguin is working to change things based on the community’s feedback. One thing this does not clear up is the deleted top comments, but nevertheless it puts the biggest issue to rest. I look forward to seeing more of the party and I can’t wait to check it out once it’s released later this month!
