Former Executive Producer of Club Penguin talks about the game and why the community matters
Here is a talk from Nicole Thompson, the former executive producer of Club Penguin. (She left for Scholastic in November 2012) She first began working at Club Penguin in 2008 and in July 2010 went from a part of the production and director to the executive producer of Club Penguin. This talk was given in 2011 at the Game Developer’s Conference, also known as GDC. The clip first appeared online earlier today and can be watched above. I found it pretty interesting and figured I would share it with you. She talks about the game and how the community (penguins like us) are vital and how we much be kept in mind and have a say in the game too. The talk is 45 minutes long, so it may be too much for you, but if you want to hear a former employee talk about how Club Penguin operates daily, here you go!
Also, just a note: the spinning game she mentions about around 12 minutes in was Grab and Spin/Spin to Win – that’s why it was not at the 2009 and 2010 Fall Fairs.
Huh. I thought they removed it because people were cheating.
Maybe both factors led to it, I’m not sure.
