Why Club Penguin Won’t Be Having a Star Wars Party (at least any time soon)

As you may or may not have already heard, on October 30th it was announced that Disney purchased Lucasfilm, the movie studio owned by George Lucas, who created the whole Star Wars franchise. That same day Lane Merrifield, known as Billybob inside the game of Club Penguin, tweeted “Disney just bought Star Wars. What do you think that means?? :)” and instantly many penguins left and right are assuming that a Star Wars party is coming. Keep in mind that Billybob isn’t the main guy at Club Penguin anymore, he is just lingering until February 2013 to make sure everything runs smoothly now that Chris Heatherly has taken over his position.

While I could easily be wrong, I’m looking at the overall picture of the scenario and it doesn’t seem likely for now that a Star Wars Party on Club Penguin is on the way. The deal just happened the other day so everything still needs to be sorted out. Disney has to deal with merchandise licensing, contracts, and everything now instead of Lucasfilm. Acquisitions are a slow thing, especially if it’s a big multi billion dollar one like this – I don’t know all the specifics but wouldn’t Lucasfilm employees have to move to Disney’s building? Basically what I am trying to say is that if a Star Wars party were to happen on Club Penguin, it’s far away – there are other far more important things Disney and the Lucasfilm employees have to attend to relating to the acquisition first.

We also had the Marvel Super Hero Takeover back in June of this year, as Disney owns Marvel. Sure, the party came out a month or so after The Avengers movie did, but not all the characters in Club Penguin based on Marvel were from that movie. Disney purchased Marvel back in December 2009 – and no, we didn’t have anything Marvel related then. If you look at it overall with everything in mind, yes, a Star Wars Party on Club Penguin for the time being is just a fictional thought. And if I’m wrong about all of this, you can rub it in my face that you were right and I was wrong.

Oh, and what about an Indiana Jones party? Lucasfilm owns that, yet nobody said there is an Indiana Jones party coming soon. :P

  1. Well, Disney bought Marvel in 2009 and we got a Marvel party in CP on 2012. Make that 3 years for the franchise to land on the game. So you MIGHT expect a Star Wars party in 2015… especially since 2015 IS the year of the new Star Wars movie!
Though I’m skeptical about the franchise on Club Penguin. I’d be surprised if light-sabers would be accepted in the games.

  2. Lance Replyed to him! I told you about this in the Google thing by comment! Why didn’t you read my comment? Ps: you might have got this by Happyblue128.

  5. Sure, the party come out a month or so after The Avengers movie did. Should be sure the part came out a month or so after The Avengers movie did.
