On This Day In Club Penguin History – May 22
On the 22nd of May Club Penguin has only updated in 2014. The updates on this day have to do with the Future Party.
On the 22nd of May in 2014 the Future Party began. Players could take Gary’s time trekker forward in time, where robots had taken over Club Penguin and a giant meteor needed to be destroyed, too. You could meet Gary during this party and collect his free background.

It started in the middle of the 22nd, so the Wiki just rounded it up to the 23rd. Both dates are technically right.
Although, looking at http://clubpenguinmemories.com/club-penguin-help-and-guides/club-penguin-lists/club-penguin-event-log/ I listed it as the 23rd.
I guess I’ll edit this post and move the 2013 updates to today’s On This Day.
