On This Day In Club Penguin History – December 1

Updates on the 1st of December have happened in 2005, 2006, 2010, and 2011! Updates ranged from a new clothing catalogue to a new field op.

On the first of December in 2005, 2006, and 2011 there was a new clothing catalogue. Every year they contained the usual winter wear. The December 2005 Clothing Catalog does not have much known about it. I can say with certainty that it did have the Hockey Stick and possibly other items such as the Pink Toque, Black Toque, and Pink Scarf. A lot more is known about the December 2006 Clothing Catalog. In fact, even before the catalog was released it was known there would be an Elf Costume in it, as leaked by a penguin named JaMeS. (the beta tester) In fact, items were hacked by both him and others several days before the catalog was released in the Gift Shop – more on that below, with original pictures I have saved.

Adding onto the items being hacked, this penguin had the Jester Hat before it was released – this image was taken at some point in November 2006. item hacking in 2006 was not nearly as serious of an issue on Club Penguin as it is in present day.

This image was also taken of the penguin wearing a part of the Elf Costume before it was released.

Finally, here is the most popular image that was shared around the web – JaMeS showcasing his items. Since this is a history site, look at the old playercard design – it shows the original spy phone, only coins and no stamps, and a different inventory system. Membership badges didn’t exist then, either.

As I mentioned above, it wasn’t just the Elf Costume that was leaked and hacked by penguins before it was officially released – all the items shown in the image below were. Here is the screenshot of them. The medal was for mission 2, which was not yet released when hacked and leaked.

On the other hand the 2010 and 2011 clothing catalogues also contained your usual winter costumes and coats. For example, the December 2010 Penguin Style contained items such as the Santa Costume and Reindeer Costume. The December 2011 Penguin Style contained items such as the Snowflake Costume.

Also in 2010 there was a new field op, located at the Cove. In 2011 there was the 58th field op, also located at the Cove. The final updates in 2011 were the Bonsai Tree Pin being hidden at the Ski Lodge and Rockhopper being spotted in the telescope on his way to Club Penguin.
