On This Day In Club Penguin History – July 25

Today’s ‘On This Day In Club Penguin History’ will bring us back to 2008 and 2013. On this day in 2008 the first ever Music Jam party. DJ3K, which was replaced with SoundStudio last week, was also released. In 2013 there was the beginning of the Star Wars Takeover, a new pin, and a new issue of Club Penguin’s magazine.

At the Music Jam all penguins could pick up the Maracas, an old item, at the Cove and also get the Music Jam T-Shirt at the Plaza. Members could access the Backstage room, located at the Dock, to access the special music instruments catalogue. There was also a booth with items (including the VIP pass to access the Backstage) at the Snow Forts. The booth, just like the musical instruments catalogue, was members only. Back in 2008 the music catalogue was not in the Lighthouse. At this party the Dock changed to a new music theme every day. The 2008 Music Jam was the first party you could meet the Penguin Band members in game.

Back when DJ3K was first released in 2008 you could not purchase extra tracks from the game upgrades catalogue and you could not save tracks to use as igloo music either. You simply made music and earned coins.

Moving on from 2008 and onto 2013, last year there was a new pin and the Star Wars Takeover was released. The 20th issue of Club Penguin’s magazine was released in the UK, too.

To access the party you had to go to the Dock and go to the Millennium Falcon spaceship. From there you would be in space. At first you could only go to Tatooine, as the Death Star and Yavin 4 areas were unlocked later. In Tatooine you could play a game to defeat stormtroopers and unlock items. Members could also battle with Lightsabers to unlock items. Darth Herbert was the mascot waddling around for this party.

The new pin was the R2-D2 Pin, of course related to the party. The magazine issue in the Uk was about Rookie’s Jokes and also talked about the Star Wars Takeover and EPF.

  1. MEMORIES. This, and 2011 are the BEST MUSIC JAM PARTIES EVER! Honestly, I also looked forward to a Star Wars Takeover this year. WHY is it hard to make a GOOD Music Jam? 2012 was cool, but I loved 2008 and 2011 more. 2013 wasn’t even a Music Jam. Instead, it was more of a Summer Party, yet it was decent (Loved the Highway room) but this years Music Jam? It does not even feel like a Music Jam.

Worst CP Summer ever :/ Thanks for ruining the best traditional party with an excellent reputation to a garbage. In fact, I feel sorry for insulting Mr. Garbage for referencing an incomplete raw food.

Music Jam Parties are dead people. Each time I am starting to lose more faith in CP, overhyping at first and in the end, disappointing millions of players.

The Music Maker, the backstage, the themed stages, the items, the music, the neon lights. EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT BACK THEN.

    RIP Music Jam Parties 2008 – 2012 :'(
